Religious Support

Welcome

The University of Tasmania recognises the importance of the spiritual dimension to human life and its value in building a socially just and caring community of students and staff. There is a diversity of faiths within the University community and visiting religious representatives work with students and staff with a variety of beliefs to strengthen the sense of community and enrich the quality of life for all.

The University has developed a policy which addresses access to religious support at the University of Tasmania. All Pastoral Carers working on UTAS campuses are nominated and approved in compliance with this policy. Please see Provision of Spiritual and Pastoral Care at UTAS policy (TLP 3.1). Interested members of recognised religious communities seeking to nominate to provide spiritual support and pastoral care on a UTAS campus should complete the Nomination Form for Pastoral Carers.

It exists to help Australian and international students find out more about Jesus and enables Christians to grow in their faith and gain support from each other as students on campus. FOCUS meets regularly on Wednesday nights from 5.30pm-7.00pm in Brooks 101 (just down the road from the UniGym). It also runs regular groups on campus, encourages mentoring and helps link people with churches around Launceston.
